Bio

Sheri Dinardi lives in Jacksonville, Oregon with her husband Al and the youngest of their three daughters. This quaint old town, rich in history with cottages, and original farms; inspires her to produce paintings that convey a sense of timelessness. Her interest in art emerged in early childhood. She simply loved to draw. By Junior High she began painting portraits in pastel. After getting married and having children; she studied oil portrait painting with Richard McKinley. Years later, after raising their girls she has attended workshops with Dan Gerhartz, Michael Malm, Carolyn Anderson, Sherry McGraw, and many others.

Today, she paints a variety of subjects and is especially drawn to painting young women and children outdoors as well as more intimate indoor works. For settings, what could be lovelier than golden light across a newly harvested wheat field, a fragrant lavender or a rose garden with distant mountains in the horizon? She follows the rhythm of the seasons and aims to capture the fleeting effect of light as it changes through out the day.

Artist Statement:

Painting for me is an expression of life, especially when painting a person. When the model is posed and the light shines on a beautiful living human being, I am awestruck.
~Sheri

"Painting for me is an expression of life, especially when painting a person. When the model is posed and the light shines on a beautiful living human being, I am awestruck. The beauty of the colors of light on the skin, warm and cool tones alternating around the form is something that is not recorded with such nuance and subtlety in many photos. Beyond the imagery is the person hood of the model that seems to emanate into the room and move your soul. What a privilege! How do I capture it all with paint on a blank canvas? That is the challenge… to communicate life experience and beauty to our viewers.

I owe a debt of gratitude to today’s masters who have inspired me even beyond the technical skill that they have imparted… especially to Dan Gerhartz, Michael Malm in amazing workshops and video’s, David Gray, and Aaron Westerberg with their helpful blogs and video’s.

As an artist I desire to paint images that bring joy, inspiration and a sense of hope to the viewer. Most importantly, I hope to express the beauty of creation in such a way as to honor our Creator who gives us life and breath; and inspires me every day with His amazing masterpieces."
